# Connect

> Your context and control, anywhere.

Stop re-explaining yourself. Link an app once. The next tool uses the same approved connection.

Connecting Cursor, Claude, or another assistant to Proofable signs that host into your profile. Connections holds the apps your agents work in.

## Link an app

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Connections">
    Sign in at [proofable.me](https://proofable.me) and open **Connections** from your profile.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick an app">
    Choose the app the work needs.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose capabilities">
    Turn on only what the agent needs. For Gmail that can be Read, Send, and Drafts, with Delete off unless you turn it on.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect">
    Click **Connect** and finish the provider's sign-in window.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You can link more than one account per app, and each connection is separate. Change capabilities any time. Removing one takes effect immediately. Adding one that needs broader provider permissions can require reconnecting.

## Add a custom MCP server

For an app that exposes its own MCP server, open **Connections**, click **Add connection**, and paste the server URL, plus an API key if it needs one.

## Use a connection

Ask in chat or in a [job](/jobs):

* "Read my latest emails"
* "Find the Q3 roadmap in Drive"
* "Send a Slack message to engineering"
* "Create a GitHub issue for this bug"

If an app isn't linked yet, the assistant tells you to open **Connections**.

## The same connections everywhere

| Where you work | What to do |
| - | - |
| Proofable | Sign in, open Connections, then chat or start a job. |
| Your assistant | [Add Proofable to any MCP client](/mcp/setup), then open Connections when the work needs an app. |
| Private cloud | Point the runtime at the same endpoint. [Private cloud](/deployment/private-cloud) |
| Your product | Use hosted sign-in, the SDK, or the API. Connections still holds the app accounts that chat and jobs use. |

## Security

* Proofable keeps your provider credentials encrypted, or leaves them with the connection provider — whichever app you link. No tool or model ever receives a token.
* Only the capabilities you enable can run.
* Sends, creates, and deletes still pass through your agent's permissions.
* Every action is saved as a result you can review.

Disconnect any account from **Connections**.
